Co-Founder & President
Chris Maher is a Co-Founder and President of Modotech and has over four decades of experience in the property & casualty insurance industry. A Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and Certified Insurance Data Manager, Chris combines deep actuarial, operational and technical expertise to help insurers modernize complex insurance processes. He holds a Master's degree in Computer Science, which has allowed him to bridge insurance domain knowledge with practical, scalable software design throughout his career.
Chris has designed and implemented multi-line, multi-state and multi-entity insurance systems supporting underwriting, rating, policy administration, billing, claims and reinsurance accounting. He has built actuarial systems for rate level analysis, loss reserving, dynamic cash flow testing, insurance company valuation and reinsurance modeling. He has led reserve adequacy testing for carriers, reinsurers, captives and self-insured organizations across a wide range of property and casualty lines.
Along with extensive experience preparing and supporting regulatory rate filings, Chris works directly with insurers to evaluate funding requirements, simulate claims experience and assess the financial impact of changes in limits, deductibles and program structure. In addition, Chris leads the design of operational systems for claims management, agent quotation, customer service, policy issuance and financial reporting, always with a focus on accuracy, auditability and regulatory compliance.
At Modotech, Chris provides strategic leadership and insurance-domain oversight for Internet Solutions for Insurance (ISi). He ensures the platform reflects real-world insurance workflows, actuarial rigor and regulatory requirements, while remaining flexible enough to support a wide range of carrier and MGA operating models. Chris works closely with clients and the development team to translate complex insurance concepts and workflows into practical, scalable solutions that improve efficiency, reduce operational risk and support long-term growth.
